Stellantis and Svolt have announced a partnership. The battery manufacturer will provide battery cells, high-voltage storage and battery management systems for the company's 14 brands - including Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroen, Fiat, Maserati, Opel or Peugeot. The lithium-ion batteries are to be supplied by Chinese battery manufacturer Svolt Energy Technology from 2025. For this purpose, the manufacturer will use its pro- duction capacities in China and its future production capacities in Europe, for example in the German state of Saarland. The battery chemistry is to include a high energy density option and a nickel-based, cobalt-free alternative. Four flexible BEV platforms (STLA Small, Medium, Large and Frame) and a scalable family of three electric drive modules and standardized battery packs are to be developed as part of the electrification strategy.
