Hydrogen certainly has potential; no other fuel has such a high energy density. Every kilogram of the gas contains 120 MJ of energy, which is more than three times the gravimetric energy density of gasoline or diesel. Hydrogen is the ideal candidate for zero-emission heavy-duty and long-haul trucks, which require more power than a battery electric powertrain could provide. Fuel Cell (FC) buses and trucks can be refilled in 10 min and cars in three or four with enough fuel to give a range of 500 km or more.
