Demand for spot tonnage remains strong in the Black Sea despite the fact that many traders are unable to sell at such high freight rates (particularly this applies to grain, minerals and fertilizers). An acute shortage of open vessels allows owners to push rates further up. Note that offer of new crop corn remains weak in the grain segment; players mainly report requests for shipments of wheat and various cubature agri products. Presently: Charterers are ready to pay $37/t for transportation of 10,000 t of wheat from Berdyansk to the Marmara Sea with 2,500 sshex bends l/d rates and late Sep laycans, while owners already want to get more than $40/t (equivalent to $12.5k daily bss RV vs. $14k daily bss RV); Traders are ready to pay $38/t for shipment of 11-12,000 t of grain from Mariupol to Samsun, (equivalent to $15k daily with a 1,500 sshex discharge rate), but they still cannot find a vessel; Owners succeeded to get $39/t for carrying of 6,000 t of wheat have from Kherson to the Marmara Sea (equivalent to very strong $10k daily bss RV); Transportation of 6-8,000 t of wheat by an overaged Arabian vessel from Mariupol to Egypt is discussed at $50/t (equivalent to $9-9.5k daily bss RV);
