Sea-river owners managed to stop rate decline in Azov Sea

Shipments of Russian wheat remain slow amid a further increase in export duties and high domestic prices. However, sea-river owners have managed to stop the rapid rate drop in the Azov Sea and even to raise freights a bit. Owners got support mainly from the reported lifting of grain import duties in Turkey, although this fact had virtually no impact on cargo flow ex Russian ports. The market is now extremely volatile, and rates for grain shipments on the same route can differ by $2-3/t, primarily depending on laycans. Traders are ready to accept slightly higher rates for spot transportation and a bit lower freights for shipments after Sep 20 (given another increase in taxes scheduled on Sep 22).
