Despite the downtrend in wheat exports that outlined a couple of weeks ago, as well as moderate steel exports, charterers are still unable to lower coaster rates in the Black Sea. Note that even a significant decline in vessel downtimes in the Dardanelles does not help charterers to push rates down (downtimes dropped from 2-3 days to several hours or at best 1 day). Moreover, market players still report an acute shortage of open vessels in the area and eventual increase in rates.
