Following a hike in the second half of January, the Global CFI has dropped by $0.19/t after January 25 due to a gradual weakening ofthe Azov Sea market (after an increase of $12.6/t, the Azov Sea CFI has dropped by $2.32/t). The downturn in the Azov Sea rates hasbeen partially offset by $0.47/t and $0.1/t increases in the Black and Mediterranean Sea freights, respectively.The ISM Commodity Index has shown a decrease of 2.5 points for the first time in a long period. This is due to shift of the price trendon the grain market. Amid upcoming introduction of export duties on Russian grain, market participants note infrastructural congestion,which entails problems with shipments and puts pressure on prices. Following the general trend, quotes for Ukrainian wheat and cornhave also stopped growing. A downward trend has formed in the metallurgical segment. Demand for Black Sea and Turkish squarebillets is now weak in MENA countries, and exporters have to make concessions. Producers of HRC are also cutting prices amid toughercompetition with Chinese suppliers. Quotes for imported coal have grown in Turkey, but this is referred solely to the increase in relevantfreight rates in the Azov Sea. Only the mineral fertilizer market continues to show a steady price growth, with another increase in quotesfor urea, DAP and MAP.
