The situation is looking very ambiguous on the sea-river market of the Azov Sea. Freight rates heavily depend on laycan dates, as wellas on charterers’ need for an urgent shipment at all costs (for example, in case of expiring contract). Most owners still want to get more than $40/t for transportation of 3-5,000 t of wheat from Rostov/Azov to the Marmara Sea withlate Jan-early Feb laycans, while some traders with firm and "expiring" offers are still ready to pay $40-41/t (however, the number ofsuch offers has decreased). Some charterers have even agreed to pay more than $60/t for a spot grain shipment from Rostov to Egypt. However, other traders refused to ship 3,000 t of grain from Azov to Mersin at low-mid $50s/t, having failed to lift subs. Another chartererhas managed to find a vessel for transportation of 5,000 t of wheat from Rostov to the Marmara Sea at $38/t.
