Grain market insight: Rains and storms obstruct harvesting in Germany and France

The reports released by the European major analytical agencies in 2H August say that the MY 2021-22 yield of milling wheat crop may be lower than expected in key grain producing countries of the EU. So, MARS analysts consider the overall yield of milling wheat throughout the EU to reach at best 5.98 tonnes per hectare against previously forecasted 6.05 tonnes per hectare. The estimates for the EU have reportedly been reduced due to extremely unfavorable weather conditions in Germany. Nevertheless, they still 5 per cent higher compared with the result of 2020 and the five-year average figure.
