The standoff between charterers and owners has sharpened on the small-tonnage transportation market after Jan 10. Owners try to raise freights after a holiday decrease both in the North and South Europe, but the actual market picture can hardly support these attempts. The fact is that spot and 2H Jan tonnage list is growing in the Baltic Sea, as well as in the Black and Mediterranean Seas, while the cargo traffic is recovering rather slowly.
