Shipbuilders work at implementation of energy-saving and green technologies

The Japanese company Asahi Tanker launched the first fully electric tanker which will operate in Tokyo Bay as a bunkering vessel starting from March 2022. The vessel named Asahi was built at the Japanese shipyard Koa Sangyo. The tanker is equipped with a lithium-ion battery, which ensures zero emissions and lower noise level. In case of emergency, the ship can also be used as a power source. The length of the vessel is 62 m, the width is 10 m and the draft is 4.1 m. The battery capacity is 3,500 kWh. The tank capacity is 1,200 cu m.
