Despite extremely dull exports from Ukraine amid ongoing hostilities and the blockade of key Ukrainian ports by Russia, small-tonnage owners manage to confidently keep freight rates stable in the basin, primarily due to a significant upturn in grain shipments from Ukrainian ports of Reni and Izmail, which is noticeable given the modest tonnage list in the area. Also, shipments from Romanian and Bulgarian ports, as well as from Russia, remain quite lively (Russian exporters are increasingly redirecting cargo traffic from Azov Sea ports to Black Sea ones).
