Antibiotics are among the most commonly prescribed medications worldwide. Despite their benefits, substantial evidence indicates that antibiotics are overprescribed and frequently used inap-propriately. The impact of inappropriate antibiotic use is substantial, including unnecessary costs, avoidable adverse events, and contribution to the development of drug-resistant organisms.
