Panasonic Plans Offensive on EV Battery Market With Mass-Produced 4680 Cells

Panasonic Corp. (TYO:6752) is looking to mount an offensive on the electric vehicle (EV) battery market. The company recently started up a 14th battery line at its U.S. Gigafactory this past August, boosting company-wide production capacity for cylindrical LiBs to 38–39 gigawatt-hours per year. And this then brings in sight the prospect of reaching 50 gigawatt- hours of combined production capacity between the company’s U.S. and Japanese facilities.
