Asahi Kasei Corp.‘s(TYO:3407)Specialty Solutions strategic business unit(SBU)oversees operations for the likes of LiB separators and semiconductor materials.The Chemical Daily recently sat down with Hideyuki Yamagishi,a senior executive officer at the company and president of this SBU,to get an idea of what kind of growth is planned here going forward.The Specialty Solutions SBU is forecast to end fiscal 2021 with an operating income of 39.7 billion yen($343.96 million),up 30.5 percent from fiscal 2019.Yamagishi said here that while the SBU has felt the impact of COVID-19 on businesses such as automotive materials,its semiconductor-related and other electronic materials-as well as its LiB separators-are showing sales growth,especially in consumer applications.And microcrystalline cellulose too is managing a stable performance,he said.
