AGC to Market Caustic Soda in Southeast Asia With Focus on LiB Cathode Materials

AGC Inc.(TYO:5201)is placing its focus on marketing caustic soda in Southeast Asia for use in LiB cathode materials.Here,Indonesia is attracting attention as a production base for automotive LiBs,and the related development plan is expected to lead to increased demand for caustic soda going forward.AGC‘s annual production capacity for caustic soda in Southeast Asia comes to 720,000 tons in Thailand-including 350,000 tons at AGC Chemicals(Thailand)Co.Ltd.and 370,000 tons at Vinythai PCL-and 700,000 tons in Indonesia at P.T.Asahimas Chemical,making for a total of 1.42 million tons.This accounts for more than 50 percent of the region‘s supply capacity,which is estimated to be just under 3 million tons.
