Toray to Bolster Operations for LiB Separators in Both Automotive and Consumer Markets

Toray Industries Inc.(TYO:3402)is looking to bolster its production setup for LiB separators in South Korea and Europe.Toray‘s main products in this realm are separators in which a ceramic or other coating is used to improve the heat resistance of a multilayered substrate.Recently,the company reached an agreement to have LG Chem Ltd.invest $375 million into Hungarian subsidiary Toray Industries Hungary Kft.(THU),turning this into a 50-50 JV between Toray and LG Chem.The move is slated to be carried out in the first half of 2022.
