Canada proposes to ban certain uses of pyrethrins

The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Authority(PMRA)has proposed continued registration for pyrethrin insecticides,subject to additional risk mitigation measures and bans on certain application methods and residential uses due to lack of data.Furthermore,the PRMA proposes to: cancel the use of pyrethrins on stored cereal grains;revoke the maximum residue limit of 3 ppm on raw cereals;and to establish a plant-back interval of 12 months for all crops other than the ones for which pyrethrins is registered for use.The proposals are open to public comment until December 16th.
