NZ nears deadline for disposal of banned paraquat products

New Zealand is nearing its December 12th deadline for the disposal of prohibited paraquat-based products. This would affect the use of four specific formulations, which include: Uniquat 250; Parable 250; Gramoxone Inteon; and Preeglone Inteon. The country’s Environment Protection Agency (EPA) significantly curtailed the use of paraquat in May, following a reassessment of the herbicide due to human health and environmental concerns. It has previously seen use in the cultivation of clover seed, lucerne (alfalfa) and kumara.
