Study finds economic and environment benefits of GMO adoption over 23 years

Adopters of genetically modified crops increased their combined incomes by almost $19 million in 2018, according to a “socio-economic” study from PG Economics consultancy. It also found that carbon emissions were reduced by 23 million tonnes, which it equated to eliminating 15.3 million cars from the road that year. The improved income represents $4.42 for each invested dollar. The main findings of the July report included its recorded economic and environmental benefits from the use of GM crops in 1996-2018.
