India's GM crop qualm: decoding the disquiet

India has long had a contentious relationship with genetically modified crops and the country's regulations concerning the issue are largely deemed to be vague and ambiguous. The situation has evoked divergent opinions, and India's stance has birthed one debate too many on whether the country, among the most populated in the world, has exercised prudence by holding GM crops at bay. Thus far, the discourse has mostly been shaped by political agendas, with a smattering of nationalist sentiments thrown in to shape public opinion against commercial cultivation of GM crops.
