US EPA reviewing request to revive aldicarb use on citrus

A decade after the US EPA struck a deal to phase out most uses of aldicarb, the Agency is considering a pesticide industry request to revive use of the insecticide on citrus trees in Florida and Texas. The EPA reported receipt of the application from AgLogic last week in the Federal Register. The company wants the Agency to add citrus to the existing label for its aldicarb pesticide product, which is currently licensed for limited use on cotton, dry beans, peanuts, soybeans, sugar beet and sweet potatoes.
