EU Commission investigates neonic approvals on sugar beet

The European Commission has asked the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to investigate the validity of emergency authorisations of neonicotinoid insecticides for sugar beet that have been granted by EU member states this year. The move follows a warning from the Commission in October that it would check countries that have “repeatedly” granted such approvals.
