US EPA proposes approval of tiafenacil

The US EPA has proposed the registration of the new herbicide, tiafenacil (trade-marked as Tergeo), together with two associated products. It would be used for: pre-plant and pre-emergence burndown use in maize (except sweetcorn), cotton, soybeans and wheat; and post-emergence use for directed burndown in grapevines, burndown in fallow and non-crop areas, and as a crop desiccant in cotton. The active ingredient is being commercialised in the US under an agreement between Japanese company Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha (ISK) and German company Helm’s US generic agrochemical subsidiary, Helm Agro US (Tampa, Florida). Helm has named its herbicide product Reviton.
