Brazilian CTNBio recommends commercial approval of HB4 wheat

The Brazilian national technical commission for biosafety, the CTNBio, has recommended the approval for commercial planting of Tropical Melhoramento Genetico’s (TMG - Cambe) genetically modified drought- and herbicide-tolerant HB4 (IND-OO412) wheat. The GM event from Argentine soybean development consortium Bioceres’ (Rosario) research and development business, Indear, contains the bar gene, which provides tolerance to glufosinate ammonium-based herbicides, and the HaHB4 gene, which gives hydric stress tolerance.
