USDA deregulates JR Simplot’s GM potato

The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has deregulated a genetically modified potato line, Snowden Z6, developed by US agribusiness company JR Simplot (Boise, Idaho). The variety has been designed for protection against late blight (Phytophthora infestans), reducing sugars, low acrylamide potential, and reduced bruising from black spots.
