22nd Century Group/KeyGene forge plant research partnership

US biotechnology company 22nd Century Group (Buffalo, New York) and Dutch genomics business KeyGene (Wageningen) have agreed to expand their “exclusive” global partnership on plant research. The deal extends an existing collaboration with an intent to develop “disruptive” hemp/cannabis plants and intellectual property (IP) for various market segments. It also covers research and development activities focusing on non- combustible, alternative tobacco plant applications.
