Plastomics/Amfora partner for soybean protein enhancement

US biotechnology start-up Plastomics (St Louis, Missouri) has agreed a collaboration with fellow San Francisco, California-based business Amfora for protein enhancement in soybeans. The deal allows Plastomics to use its chloroplast transformation technology to introduce Amfora’s gene-editing constructs into soybean germplasm and help the company develop high-protein products. Earlier this month, Plastomics agreed a deal with Israeli plant biotechnology business Evogene (Rehovot) for novel insect control traits in soybeans.
