GETTING BETTER EVERY DAY

I was very taken by one comment Sky TV's John Fellet made when interviewed for our lead story this month. He said that he feels way smarter than he did five, 10 or 15 years ago and that he is a big believer that you get better at what you do every day (page 8). A feeling, I think, which will resonate with many, many senior managers. It kind of comes back to the thinking around 'you don't know, what you don't know'. But many years of experience in your field and many opportunities to make mistakes and learn from them, means you do probably know a lot more than you once did. And in his early 60s, John Fellet is a mere spring chicken compared to Warren Buffett who, in his mid 80s, is still undoubtedly at the top of his game.
