As Sky Television's CEO, the very genial John Fellet, wryly tells it, the only reason he didn't make it in American professional baseball was a pure lack of talent. It sure wasn't for lack of trying. He regularly wrote to American baseball scouts from about the age of 15 and on leaving school managed to win a baseball scholarship to Arizona University, where he studied accountancy. He didn't make the university team and recalls that the coach said they loved his attitude and the only thing missing was the talent. He was a very good amateur, he says.
