EU court upholds non-renewal decision for flupyrsulfuron

An EU court has dismissed FMC’s lawsuit asking for an annulment of the 2017 decision not to renew the EU approval of the herbicide, flupyrsulfuron-methyl. The non- renewal decision was based on certain intrinsic toxicological properties and concerns over metabolites in ground water. The General Court of the European Court of Justice has rejected FMC’s claims of failings in the EU risk assessment and in the European Commission’s actions in the decision- making process.
