EU seeks comments on revision of rules on sustainable use of agchems

The European Commission has opened a public consultation on its plans to revise the EU sustainable use of pesticides Directive (2009/128). Comments are invited until April 12th on a roadmap, which was issued for an initial feedback period last summer. The revision is one of the measures aimed at achieving the pesticide reduction targets in the Commission’s Farm to Fork strategy. In a preliminary impact assessment in the roadmap, the Commission acknowledges that bene?ts for health and the environment will be accompanied by higher costs throughout the food chain. It plans to come up with a legislative proposal by the ?rst quarter of 2022.
