Technology comes at a price

Writing this month's cover story on baby boomers served as a reminder to me of just how much the world has changed in recent times. It's interesting how each successive older generation will reminisce about how life used to be "before the world went mad", and how younger ones struggle to understand a world that once existed before the Internet. We forget that the pre-Internet world existed not that long ago. Although the Internet was first activated in 1969 as a network of university mainframe computers, it really wasn't until the mid-90s that it started becoming popular.
