Saving historic Cornish plants

Many plants with direct links to 19th-century plant collectors are threatened by old age and disease. BEE ROBSON describes how micropropagation is helping to conserve them. IN 20011 TOOK ON the enviable task of recording, identifying and propagating the collections of old rhododendrons and camellias at Heligan Gardens, Cornwall. Shortly after starting this I became aware of the micropropagation facility at Duchy College, Rosewarne, Cornwall, via Ros Smith, lecturer in Plant Sciences at the College.
