Moody's expects 2014 to be another year of challenges for European papermakers

US rating agency Moody's Investors Service has downgraded the outlook for the global paper and forestry industry from positive to stable. Operative earnings of most companies in the global paper and forestry sector will recede or if they do increase, then by not more than 4%, Moody's believes. The change in rating reflects forecasts which indicate that North American packaging paper producers will be able to post a modest increase in deliveries in the next 12 to 18 months but at unchanged prices.
