Juno Iris for the garden

Subgenus Scorpiris (juno irises, as they are commonly known), constitutes the largest group within the genus Iris and numbers at least 55 species. Junos are geographically widespread, occurring in Mediterranean Europe, North Africa and especially Asia, where they range from central Turkey and the Caucasus as far south as Israel and Jordan, even into Saudi Arabia. Their eastern range extends to north Pakistan and Central Asia. These are plants of stony ground and mountain slopes, where they experience hot dry summers and cold winters, often with snow cover.
