Suspected Nerium oleander Poisoning in a Dog

This case report describes a 3 years old neutered female Shih Tzu dog presented to the Hebrew University Veterinary Teaching Hospital (HUVTH) after being treated by a local veterinarian for gastrointestinal signs. At the hospital, the dog demonstrated sinus bradycardia with occasional sinus block. The dog was noticed chewing leaves from a flower arrangement contained Nerium oleander branches. A blood sample was sent for analysis for digoxin levels however returned negative. The dog was treated symptomatically and with atropine for the cardiac arrhythmias. It was discharge from the hospital after 3 days once its pulse returned to normal (80 bpm) and after the arrhythmia resolved.
