How has the global economic crisis affected the supply of fresh flowers? In multiple ways. Some are challenging for floral retailers— others not so bad. Flower buying (like buying in general) is down. And for big holidays, like Valentine's Day and (most likely) Mother's Day, some buyers—retailers and wholesalers both—have responded to the slow economy by waiting longer than usual to place their orders. They do this to gauge uncertain demand, and also to see if the price will go lower.
