The authors retract the April 30, 2009, paper cited above. There was an inadvertent mix-up of the cell lines utilized, which invalidates the reported data. There was no intentional wrongdoing on the part of any author. Preliminary experiments utilizing validated myeloma cell lines confirm the role of CS1 in myeloma cell survival pathways, and new experiments are in progress. The authors apologize to the readers and to Blood for these errors and for any confusion they might have caused.
