EU decides not to re-register 1,3-D

The European Commission has decided not to re-register the nematicide, 1,3-dichloropropene (1,3-D). EU decisions against re-registration of 1,3-D were previously taken in 2011 and 2006. But in 2015, Corteva Agriscience legacy company Dow AgroSciences and Kanesho Soil Treatment (joint venture between Japanese companies Agro-Kanesho and Mitsui & Co) submitted a new application for approval of the active ingredient as a nematicide for use in fruiting vegetables. Spain was rapporteur member state handling the EU assessment.
