BASF is voluntarily cancelling its registration of the herbicide, trifludimoxazin, so that the US EPA can assess the potential harm to endangered species from legal uses of new herbicide. The company’s decision is a win for environmentalists who filed suit in July 2021 in the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, alleging that the EPA had violated the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and federal pesticide law when it approved the BASF herbicide in May 2020.
