摘要

Chinese agricultural biotechnology company Origin Agritech (Beijing) has applied for biosafety certificates for six gene- edited maize traits designed to “significantly” increase yields. The applications have been filed in collaboration with Beijing-based China Agricultural University, with whom the company forged a collaboration in September last year to undertake research on the molecular design of maize. The partnership focuses on the use of the CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) gene editing technique for the creation of new varieties of the crop.
