Ag group of Brazilian MPs seek suspension of carbendazim phase-out

A major Brazilian parliamentary group is proposing a bill to suspend the phase-out order of carbendazim fungicide “until another molecule is approved as a substitute”, national media report. The bill’s author, Jose Mario Schreiner, of the agriculture parliamentary front, FPA, reportedly says the hazard from use of carbendazim exists as with any pesticide in the amount of the product that is used. Mr Schreiner is also vice- president of farmers’ union CNA.
