Since the development of fast imaging techniques, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been used to evaluate fetal anomalies. MR fetal imaging has become an important adjunct to ultrasound in the evaluation of fetal anomalies. This article reviews the literature on the use of fetal MRI, provides a basic discussion of this technique, and offers a pictorial overview of the spectrum of fetal disorders that are amenable to MRI examination.
