Port Hedland lithium exports fall in May

Lithium concentrate (spodumene) exports from Western Australia's Port Hedland fell to 27,000 dry metric tonnes (dmt) in May from 59,872dmt in April. There was one shipment to China in May compared with a shipment each to China and South Korea in April, which recorded the highest monthly total for more than a year, according to export data from the Pilbara Ports Authority. Lithium exports from Port Hedland totalled 150,022dmt during January-May compared with 116,650dmt in the same period of 2020, indicating the increased demand mainly from China.
