PSYCHOGENIC TREMOR OCCURRING AFTER DEEP BRAIN STIMULATION SURGERY FOR ESSENTIAL TREMOR

Thalamic deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery is an extremely effective treatment for essential tremor (ET) with most patients obtaining complete or nearly complete suppression of tremor.1 Rare failures are usually explained by poor lead placement, lead fracture, or implantable pulse generator (IPG) failure. At times, DBS failure cannot be attributed to hardware malfunction and other causes must be sought.We report a patient who developed psychogenic tremor after DBS surgery for ET#
