Interlocus associations of some genetic biochemical systems in cattle.

Ten Holsteins, 3 groups totalling 41 Russian Black Pieds, and 13 Russian Simmentals (RS) were typed for Tf and ceruloplasmin (the genes for both being on chromosome 1), kappa-casein (chromosome 6), and amylase I (chromosome 9). Data on allele frequencies are tabulated. For the syntenic genes encoding Tf and ceruloplasmin, linkage disequilibrium was significant only in the Holstein and RS cattle. Conversely, there was linkage disequilibrium in some of the cattle groups between non-syntenic genes.
