Doctors do it. Lawyers do it. Even structural engineers do it. So why shouldn't florists keep up with the times? After all, staying on top of changes in the industry means more and better business. Which is why cutting-edge florists have fallen in love with the Teleflora Education Center in Oklahoma City, Okla. The school, established 17 years ago by American Floral Services (AFS) and operated by Teleflora since the two companies merged in November 2000, offers a wide variety of classes to teach working florists about the latest products and the newest design trends. As Marie Ackerman, Teleflora's vice president of education, puts it: "We take people who are already enormously talented and help them grow."
