Active Packaging To Carry Warning Labels

Food wrapped in so-called active and intelligent packaging might need to carry warning labels in future so that people do not mistakenly eat inedible parts. A European Commission official told EE&PL that any inedible part of the packaging system that could be mistaken for food would have to be clearly labelled with a warning "Do not eat." She said this would cover for example sachets to absorb moisture, which people could confuse with seasonings.
