In a recent paper, Park et al. [2014] conducted a statistical analysis of geosynchronous magnetic field perturbations near midnight during sudden commencement (SC) providing several interesting results. They discussed, in particular, the event that occurred on 8 June 2000 around 08:41 UT, when ACE observed an interplanetary shock characterized by a clear and sudden jump in the solar wind (SW) speed from ≈520 to ≈760 km/s, in the dynamic pressure from ≈2 to ≈15 nPa, and in the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) Bz from ≈2 to ≈16 nT. The SC-associated magnetic field perturbation observed by GOES 10 (located at 23:52 magnetic local time) was characterized by a sudden increase in the magnetic field strength (≈63 nT), mainly due to a sharp positive change of the radial component (≈62 nT).
