The prognosis of multiple myeloma (MM) has improved markedly over the past decade and the majority of younger patients are likely to benefit from high-quality remissions for a median of 3 to 4 years, largely because of the introduction of novel agents within the context of high-dose therapy and autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT).
